Have you ever felt like everyone else knows something you don’t when it comes to looking good? Have you ever looked at a super-model, actor, actress, or celebrity and wondered, “What are the beauty secrets of the stars?”
Or in high school, did you or do you look at the most popular girl or guy and wonder to yourself, “What is her beauty secret?” or “What makes that guy so handsome that all the girls want him?” Well, read on, friend, because I was once in that place too, and asking those questions.
You see, I was the proverbial ugly duckling growing up. And it wasn’t just outer beauty that I lacked; I had extremely low self-esteem as a child. I lived with the pain of being picked on in school and rejected by the “in” crowd.
After high school, I moved to Hollywood and became an actress, mostly to prove to myself that I could do it. There I learned many Hollywood beauty secrets. However, Tinseltown is known for its outer beauty and can be very void of the inner beauty--except for the beautiful poem below written by Sam Levenson for his grandchild and made famous by Audrey Hepburn.
Mostly, the inner beauty secrets were the painful secrets I learned on my own through books, research, close friends who loved me, mentors who taught me how to improve and love myself, and through my wonderful and totally beautiful mother and grandmother who taught me that loving others is really the truest form of beauty.
